He currently represents the 67th District, which consists of Stanly & Montgomery Counties. Since taking office in January of 2009 he has distinguished himself as a hard-working representative who stands out as a leader in the legislature, named the 10th most effective conservative in the House in 2010, and served as the House Republican Freshman Leader for the 2009 – 2010 session. He is one of only a handful of Republican members of the General Assembly to preside over the House of Representatives since the late 1800’s.

He was also appointed by the Governor to serve on the North Carolina Early Childhood Advisory Council.

Even when Justin was in his first term and in the minority he stood out as a tireless leader and advocate for our community in the General Assembly. His 12 GOP freshman colleagues agreed and elected him to serve as their 2009-2010 House Republican Freshman Leader.

Beyond his involvement in state government, Justin is very active in his community. He is an Eagle Scout, has served on the Boy Scouts of America Stanly District Board and currently serves on the Board of the Boy Scouts of America Central North Carolina Council, was the Chairman of the Stanly County Republican Party and currently serves as a member of the Central and Executive Committees of the NC Republican Party, was a member of the Teenage Republicans and now serves as their State advisor. Intern for both U.S. Senator Jesse Helms (2002) and U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole (2004). He is a member of West Albemarle Baptist Church, the Stany County Chamber of Commerce, and a Lifetime Member of the National Rifle Association.
